After an uncharacteristic blip on opening day, Sergio Lobera’s Mumbai City are in business. A late win against FC Goa was followed by a comprehensive 3-0 rout of the ISL new boys, SC East Bengal earlier this week.
Now, the Islanders have their sights firmly set on keeping this run going as Mumbai City prepare for the first of two games in four days and will return to the GMC Bambolim on Sunday, December 6 to face Stuart Baxter’s Odisha FC.
On a milestone night with Mandar playing his 100th league game and Adam Le Fondre his 600th professional game, Mumbai City capped it off with a fine performance, putting three goals past Robbie Fowler’s East Bengal who sit at the bottom of the table. Alfie marked his special night with a brace and Hernán Santana grabbed his maiden goal for the club in our first ‘home’ game of the season.
The visitors Odisha FC come into the fixture off the back of a 1-0 loss against ATK Mohun Bagan, conceding deep into stoppage time in what was the final play of the game. The record books favor the Juggernauts coming into tomorrow’s fixture after doing the double over the Islanders in the 2019-20 campaign and Sergio Lobera is well aware of the threat posed by tomorrow’s visitors.
Consistency is almost always the key and a third win in a row will certainly be on the minds of Sergio Lobera and his squad when they take to the pitch in this early kick-off.
Who Said What
Sergio Lobera: We need to work well in both aspects, in defence and in attack. We want to play in our own style, as better as possible. We'll need to create chances, as well as defend the ball because we are playing against a team like Odisha FC.
Farukh Choudhary: It was important to win the way we won in our last game. We need to keep the momentum going on, and we're looking forward to the next game against a tough Odisha FC side.
