Mumbai City's youth squad took the field in Kolkata against a full-strength Kerala Blasters in their opening game at the 2024 Durand Cup. Despite the 8-0 scoreline, the young side showcased commendable determination and resilience against seasoned professionals.

Despite the Blasters' relentless attacks in the first 15 minutes, the all-Indian line-up of Mumbai City held their ground with impressive resolve.

Noah Sadaoui scored the opening goal just after the half-hour mark, finishing off a well-executed move from the right.

Shortly after, Luna set up Peprah, who scored to double the Blasters' lead. Peprah then added a second goal before halftime, giving the Blasters a 3-0 lead at the break. However, the young Islanders displayed great character and continued to fight valiantly.

Noah scored his second goal five minutes into the second half, making it 4-0. Despite the mounting pressure, the Islanders showed admirable persistence.

With 15 minutes remaining, Noah completed his hat-trick to make it 6-0. In the final minutes, Ishan Pandita scored twice, bringing the final score to 8-0. While the Blasters' experience and skill ultimately prevailed, the young Mumbai City side demonstrated their fighting spirit.

This experience will undoubtedly serve as a valuable learning opportunity for the Islanders' young team, who will look to continue to develop their skills in the competition.
