Mumbai City FC are set to host Mohammedan SC at the Mumbai Football Arena on January 26th with three crucial points up for grabs. Ahead of the match, both head coach Petr Kratky and midfielder Jon Toral reflected upon the team’s current form, mindset and their next opposition.
Commenting about the side’s current mindset heading into the next game, Kratky stated, "For us it is very simple, we need to win the game and get as many points as possible especially since we are at home. All games are important. Our priority is to play good football because we believe we can win points with it”
Mumbai City enjoy a good record against Mohammedan having won the last three encounters. The last time both sides faced, the Islanders logged a 1-0 victory and Kratky expects the side to win the reverse fixture as well. “My side’s capable of winning. We are prepared to go hard against Mohammedan. They are a very strong team, and we cannot underestimate them”, he added.
Talking about Mumbai City’s key areas of focus, Kratky shared, “It will be very important that we start the game strong. We have to ensure we do enough in training to win the next match. Staying focused and keeping a winning mindset is also very crucial.”
Kratky also confirmed that central midfielder Jon Toral is back into the squad and available for selection after recovering from a six-week long injury. He also confirmed that all players are fit and seem to be in good shape as they enter a critical phase of the league stage.
Talking about his recovery, Toral stated, “Football is a contact sport, so these injuries are part of the game. It was a tough few weeks, but I am feeling good and am happy to be back. I want to contribute to the team, both on and off the pitch in any way possible.”
This is also Toral’s first ever season in ISL and he has enjoyed the football he has played in India. “This is a very competitive league with good managers and players hence I am happy to be here and ready to get going again,” he said.
With only three home games left this season, Kratky urged the fans to come support their club in the stadium and acknowledged their importance by saying, “The fans are a very important part for the club and the club’s culture. We need our 12th player in the stands cheering for us and supporting us. Looking forward to seeing you all in the park.”
