Mumbai City FC are ready to take on Jamshedpur FC in the semi-finals of the 2025 Kalinga Super Cup, with head coach Peter Kratky and captain Lallianzuala Chhangte both expressing confidence and focus ahead of the knockout tie. Earlier in the week, the Islanders secured a comprehensive 4–0 win against Chennaiyin FC to pave their way into the semi-finals.

Speaking about the team’s mindset heading into the clash, Kratky said, “We are excited. Our expectations are always the highest. We want to win every game. We want to finish as high as we can and bring the trophies for the club and the fans. We will always be here as Mumbai City FC. There is always the highest expectation, and we need to do our best.”

Kratky was full of respect for Jamshedpur FC, who have shown improved defensive solidity in recent matches. He said, “Jamshedpur is a very strong team. We know what we are facing. They are a very good team. They proved it. That is why they finished the season. This season was very good for them. Also, they go into the tournament as well. They are a strong team. But we are ready to do our best and try to avoid letting them create chances.”

Outlining Mumbai’s tactical approach for the semi-final, Kratky stated, “We need to be disciplined. We need to execute our plan and work hard. That is number one. Stay together from the first minute. It is a different competition. It is a short turnaround, only two days’ rest and games for both teams. We need to believe in our work behind the scenes and just execute it.”

Captain Lallianzuala Chhangte also expressed confidence ahead of the tie. “I am glad and happy that we have come this far. But our next test awaits tomorrow. They are a very good side, good defending and attacking as well. But we are totally focusing on ourselves, on what we can do and what we can execute, and we will try to give our best during the game.”

On his role as captain, Chhangte opined, “I think it is a big responsibility, on and off the pitch. Sometimes you have to be, the middleman for the players, to do with the staff and the boss as well. But it is a responsibility that I take with pride and enthusiasm. The coach, staff and players trust me to be captain of this team. I will never take this for granted, and this gives me motivation to work even harder.”

Commenting on his personal form, he said, “Well, my job is to help my teammates. Getting three points, and the goals and assists come along the way. It does not matter if I score or assist. Most important is three points and a win. And I am really grateful that we can execute the plan and win the last two games. It must continue and we have to keep working hard.”
