Mumbai City enjoyed a fine start to the year over the weekend after registering a comprehensive 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters at the Bambolim. Hugo Boumous won a penalty for Adam Le Fondre to tuck in in the 3rd minute before scoring his maiden goal for the Club on the 11th. After failing to extend the two-goal cushion, the Islanders sustained some pressure in the second half saw out the game and thanks to some resolute defending and goalkeeping.
With a largely unchanged squad from the 2019-20 season, Carles Cuadrat’s Bengaluru FC enjoyed an unbeaten start to the 2020-21 campaign for the first six games but come into tomorrow’s clash at the Fatorda off the back of consecutive 1-0 defeats to ATK Mohun Bagan and Jamshedpur FC.
The Islanders gear up for the first of two fixtures which could have serious points table implications come the end of the season, and a positive result will be a step in the right direction for Sergio Lobera.
Team News:
Erik Paartalu will miss tomorrow’s proceedings after picking up his fourth caution of the game against Jamshedpur FC. Ashique Kuruniyan remains a long-term injury while Udanta Singh, who went off in their previous game, has been confirmed as fit to play by Carles Cuadrat.
Who Said What:
Sergio Lobera: The game against Bengaluru FC will be different than our last two games. They are a very competitive team, a compact team with a very good defence, and it will be difficult for us to find spaces but we have to manage the situation.
Rowllin Borges: Each game is crucial for us. We go in with the same mentality, to improve our game and to get three points. I hope I can score but more than that, I want the three points.
